Kauai Snorkeling Tours

Kauai's best snorkel tours run along the Napali Coast, where there are no roads and few beaches. From the west side they also reach Niihau and Lehua Crater. Boats leave from Port Allen in Eleele or Kikiaola Harbor near Kekaha. The tours below come from operator sites, with prices only where we saw them on the listing.

Boat tours vs shore snorkeling in Kauai

Shore snorkeling at Poipu, Kee, Anini and Lydgate costs little and lets you stay in the water as long as you like, but it depends on season and surf. A boat is the only way to reach Nualolo Kai, the Napali sea caves, and Niihau or Lehua, and it works well in winter when the north shore is rough. Choose a boat for the coast and a gear and meal package, and shore on a calm morning for flexibility. Napali trips run mostly in summer; winter trips are often cancelled for swell.

When do Napali snorkel tours run?

Mostly May to September, when seas are calm. In winter swell cancels many trips.

Can I snorkel at Niihau?

Only on a licensed boat trip that snorkels near Niihau and Lehua Crater. Landing on the island is not allowed without permission.
